Chelsea Defender Disasi Receives Medical Attention After Carabao Cup Final Defeat
Following a narrow 1-0 loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, Chelsea defender Axel Disasi received medical attention after collapsing on the pitch.
The 25-year-old was reportedly comforted by Chelsea captain Ben Chilwell after the incident.
The defeat was a significant setback for Chelsea, who were aiming to end their six-year wait for a domestic cup title.
Liverpool’s victory secured their 10th League Cup trophy, thanks to a late goal from Virgil van Dijk.
Chelsea entered the match at Wembley Stadium hoping to break their drought, and they came close in the first half when Raheem Sterling’s goal was controversially ruled offside by VAR.
Despite creating several other opportunities, they were unable to find the net and the score remained level at halftime.
The second half saw both teams struggle to create clear chances until the 62nd minute when Liverpool were awarded a free-kick near the Chelsea box.
Van Dijk headed the ball into the net, but VAR intervened, prompting the referee to review the goal and ultimately disallow it for a foul in the build-up.
The match went into extra time, and with just two minutes remaining, Van Dijk rose once again to meet a Kostas Tsimikas corner, heading the ball into the net and securing the win for Liverpool.
While Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea team displayed strong effort throughout, they ultimately conceded a late goal and missed out on the trophy.
They will now look to learn from this experience and aim for a strong finish to the season
