Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed disappointment with referee Chris Kavanagh’s performance in the Carabao Cup final, specifically regarding a tackle on Ryan Gravenberch.
Kavanagh did not penalize Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo for the tackle, which forced Gravenberch off the pitch just 22 minutes into the game.
Additionally, the incident was not reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Klopp felt the refereeing “wasn’t at the level of the game,” questioning the decision to not acknowledge the challenge as a foul.

He expressed further frustration at the explanation provided by the fourth official, implying a missed opportunity for disciplinary action.
While Gravenberch escaped a fracture, he did sustain ligament damage according to Klopp, highlighting the potential severity of the unpenalized tackle.
