Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford recounted a captivating story from his academy days, revealing a unique perspective on meeting club legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
Speaking to Players Tribune, Rashford explained his decision to decline a photo opportunity with the duo, stating his unwavering belief that he would one day share the pitch with them.
His confidence paid off. Rashford made a remarkable debut for Manchester United in 2016, scoring twice and fulfilling his dream of playing alongside his idols.
Today, eight years later, Rashford has established himself as a key player for the Red Devils, boasting 391 appearances and 128 goals.
He recalled the encounter, stating: “Wazza and Cristiano came to visit the academy, and I was simply starstruck.
My brother urged me to take a picture with Wazza, but I refused. I told him, ‘I don’t need a picture. I’m going to be playing alongside them someday.'”
