Tim Sherwood, former manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has called on Chelsea to prioritize signing Brentford’s Ivan Toney this summer.
Chelsea have been linked with various strikers, but Sherwood believes the 27-year-old English attacker offers a more reliable option.
In an interview with Premier League Productions, Sherwood emphasized the need for Chelsea to invest in proven Premier League scorers like Toney, rather than taking risks on untested players.
“Toney would be a sensible signing,” Sherwood said. “Chelsea have brought in younger attackers with no Premier League experience, which is a gamble they can’t afford anymore.
They need guaranteed results, and Toney is as close to a guarantee as you can get.
He has a proven track record of scoring in this league, and I believe he’d thrive at Chelsea.”
