Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has revealed that wingers Kaoru Mitoma and Simon Adingra are both facing prolonged spells on the sidelines due to injuries sustained in their recent match against Crystal Palace.
Mitoma is expected to be out for around four to six weeks with an ankle problem, while Adingra is likely to require a similar recovery period for his hamstring injury.
As a result, they will both miss the upcoming game against Tottenham Hotspur, adding to the team’s existing list of injured players.
De Zerbi mentioned that the team is currently dealing with the absence of up to ten injured players, with the likes of Ansu Fati, Tariq Lamptey, Adam Webster, Solly March, Julio Enciso, and Joel Veltman also unavailable for the match against Spurs. Midfielder Adam Lallana may only be fit enough for a substitute appearance. De Zerbi acknowledged the impact of the team’s busy schedule, suggesting that their involvement in the Europa League may have contributed to their injury problems.
He also acknowledged Tottenham’s resilience in coping with the absence of star player Harry Kane and praised their playing style and quality. Despite the injury setbacks, De Zerbi remains optimistic about Brighton’s ability to compete, emphasizing the energy and potential of the team’s younger players.
