Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has announced his departure from Arsenal, signing permanently with Wrexham.
The news was confirmed by Okonkwo himself through a statement on his Instagram account on Saturday.
The 22-year-old Nigerian-born shot-stopper spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Wrexham, playing a pivotal role in their promotion to League One.
Okonkwo expressed his gratitude towards Arsenal in his statement: “Saying goodbye to Arsenal is a difficult decision. I’ve made lifelong friendships and am incredibly grateful to the coaches, teammates, fans, and everyone involved with the club who helped me grow as a person and player.
Arsenal will always hold a special place in my heart, and I wish them continued success in the future.”
Okonkwo joined Arsenal’s youth academy in 2009 at the age of eight. This move marks the end of his 15-year journey with the Gunners.
