Wolves inflict Christmas pain on Chelsea

Wolves secured a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in a captivating match, marking the first Christmas Eve Premier League game since 1995.

Despite dominating possession, Chelsea’s inconsistency was evident as they suffered their fourth defeat in six league games.

Mario Lemina and Matt Doherty’s goals put Wolves in the lead, and although Christopher Nkunku scored on his Premier League debut for Chelsea, it was not enough to secure a comeback.

The match featured missed opportunities for both teams, with Raheem Sterling’s failed attempt and Lesley Ugochukwu’s deflection hitting the post for Wolves.

Despite a late effort from substitute Nkunku, Wolves held on to claim victory and leave Chelsea in 10th place in the Premier League.
