Shearer Backs Saka as England’s Euro 2024 Standout
Former England striker Alan Shearer has named Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka as his pick for England’s best player at Euro 2024.
Speaking ahead of the final against Spain, Shearer acknowledged other strong performances, mentioning midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
However, he ultimately chose Saka: “He’s had a wonderful tournament,” Shearer said (via Betfair). “He’s a breath of fresh air and everyone loves him.”
Saka has been a key figure for England throughout the competition, starting all six matches and contributing a crucial late equalizer in the quarter-final win over Switzerland.
