Surprise Move? Liverpool Reportedly Offer Van Dijk to Atletico Madrid

Reports have emerged suggesting Liverpool may be willing to part ways with their captain, Virgil van Dijk. The 33-year-old Dutch defender’s contract expires in 2025, and according to Football365, the club has offered him to Atletico Madrid.

Van Dijk has been a crucial figure for the Reds since his arrival from Southampton in January 2018.

He has amassed 270 appearances, scoring 23 goals and contributing 12 assists, playing a pivotal role in the club’s recent trophy haul under Jurgen Klopp.

However, with Klopp’s departure and a potential shift in direction at Anfield, Liverpool may be considering a rebuild.

Atletico Madrid were reportedly offered the opportunity to sign Van Dijk, but the Spanish club is said to be prioritizing players with lower wage demands to manage their finances. Van Dijk reportedly earns £220,000 per week according to Capology.
