Manchester United Boss Downplays De Ligt Pursuit

Manchester United’s De Ligt Interest: Ten Hag Clarifies Role

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has acknowledged the club’s interest in signing Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich. However, he emphasized that he wasn’t the driving force behind this potential transfer.

De Ligt reportedly desires a reunion with his former Ajax manager at United. Despite this interest, reports suggest the Premier League club might not pursue the deal further.

Adding to the uncertainty, Manchester United recently signed Leny Yoro, another central defender.

Ten Hag’s comments to AD Sportwereld shed some light on the situation:

• “It remains to be seen whether De Ligt will come,” he said.

• He acknowledged his connection to De Ligt: “I know Matthijs well and I will not deny that.”

• He clarified his role in potential signings: “I wanted to sign him two years ago…but his name did not come from me in this process.”
