Grealish Opens Up on Final Conversation with Shakespeare

Grealish Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Shakespeare

Manchester City star Jack Grealish has shared a poignant tribute to his former manager, Craig Shakespeare, revealing their last conversation.

The England international expressed his devastation at the news of Shakespeare’s passing, describing him as “one of the greatest people I’ve ever met.”

Grealish recalled a supportive message he received from Shakespeare after being omitted from the England squad for Euro 2024. The former Leicester City boss reached out to offer encouragement despite his own health struggles.

“Shakey, one of the greatest people I’ve ever met, not only in football but in life,” Grealish posted on Instagram. “Last month [he] was texting me when I didn’t make the Euros squad whilst he was ill shows the type of man he was!”

“[He said]: Jack, sometimes it’s hard to know what to say,’ Shakespeare wrote to Grealish. ‘But I’m gutted for you and thinking about you.”

Grealish added, “An absolute heart of gold! Everyone really will miss you, Shakey. Absolutely devastated. Sending all my love to his family.”

The two forged a strong bond during their time together at Aston Villa.
