Carragher Casts Doubt on Man Utd’s Third Place Ambitions
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has poured cold water on Manchester United’s hopes of securing a third-place finish in the Premier League this season.
The former defender, speaking in the aftermath of United’s narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham, positioned the Red Devils as contenders for a Champions League spot but firmly outside the top three.
“I don’t see Manchester United finishing third,” Carragher stated confidently. “They’ll be in a fierce battle with Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Chelsea for those coveted Champions League places. It’s going to be a tough fight.”
Carragher’s assessment comes after a summer of significant investment by United, with the likes of Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund arriving at Old Trafford.
However, the Sky Sports pundit believes the competition for the top four will be intense, and Erik ten Hag’s side will face a stern test to secure their place among the Premier League elite.
