Maresca Cuts 20 Players from Chelsea Squad
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that he is working with a significantly reduced squad for the upcoming season. The Italian tactician has confirmed that 20 players have been excluded from the training sessions, leaving him with a core group of 21 players.
Maresca’s decision comes as Chelsea look to restructure their squad and potentially offload several players before the transfer window closes. The 20 players who have been left out of training are likely facing uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge.
As Chelsea prepare for their UEFA Conference League play-off against Servette, Maresca will rely on his core group of 21 players to deliver a positive result.
Maresca said: “I am not working with 42 players. I am working with 21 players.
“The other 15-20 players are training apart. I don’t see them. It’s not a mess like it looks from outside. Absolutely not.
“They can even have 20 years contract, it’s not my point. I don’t care.”
