Osimhen Faces Transfer Uncertainty Amidst Napoli’s Financial Woes
Victor Osimhen is poised to receive a flurry of offers from Premier League clubs Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG in the final days of the transfer window. However, the Napoli striker’s future remains uncertain due to the club’s financial constraints.
Napoli has made it clear that they will only sell Osimhen for his €130 million release clause, but the high wage demands of the Nigerian striker have complicated the situation. The club is seeking to reduce its immediate financial burden by spreading Osimhen’s wages over a longer period, similar to Barcelona’s arrangement with Frenkie de Jong.
However, Osimhen and his agent have rejected this proposal, insisting on a lucrative contract. While PSG had shown interest in Osimhen, they have now turned their attention to Ademola Lookman.
Chelsea remains a potential destination for Osimhen, but they are reportedly only considering a loan move, which the striker is not interested in. Arsenal, despite initial interest, have also cooled their pursuit of the Nigerian forward.
As Napoli continues to explore options to offload Osimhen, the club has made progress in securing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. A verbal agreement has been reached between the two clubs, with Chelsea accepting a €30 million fee plus add-ons. Lukaku is set to sign a three-year deal with Napoli, potentially paving the way for Osimhen’s departure.
