Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes Arsenal need to bolster their squad with additional signings to avoid potential injury-related setbacks.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, Redknapp expressed concerns about the long-term sustainability of Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey’s fitness. Jesus missed the match due to injury, while Partey contributed with a goal.
“They definitely need more players,” Redknapp stated on Sky Sports. “I’m a big fan of Jesus, but can he stay healthy for an entire season? The same goes for Partey. He’s a crucial defensive midfielder.”
“He’s an important player in defensive midfield.
“They are talking about getting in Merino who had a really good Euros for Spain, he is a perfect profile for the Premier League, I’m sure that is going to happen.”
Arsenal have been actively pursuing both a new striker and a midfielder to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
