Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has spoken out in support of Victor Osimhen, expressing his disappointment at the treatment the Napoli forward has received amid his failed transfer to Chelsea.
Ighalo, who has a close relationship with Osimhen, revealed in an interview that he has spoken to the Napoli star and can sense the pain he is experiencing.
He also criticized the comments made by some “own country people” who have been critical of Osimhen’s decision not to join Chelsea.
“I spoke to him and I can feel the pain in his voice the way he’s been treated,” Ighalo said. “It’s sad to see how some people from our own country have been speaking about him. He’s a great player and a good person. He deserves better treatment.”
Osimhen’s future at Napoli remains uncertain, with the club reportedly still open to selling him before the transfer window closes. However, the player’s relationship with the club appears to have deteriorated, making a departure increasingly likely.
