Ferdinand Claims Salah and Diaz Exploited United’s Defenses
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has accused Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz of exploiting United’s defensive vulnerabilities during their 3-0 win at Old Trafford.
Ferdinand believes that Salah and Diaz’s positioning for their goals allowed them to “cheat” and gain an advantage over United’s defenders. The duo scored two goals each in the match, securing Liverpool’s third consecutive victory of the season.
While Casemiro was widely criticized for his role in United’s defeat, Ferdinand pointed out that Liverpool manager Arne Slot had instructed his wingers to take advantage of United’s defensive weaknesses.
“Let them cheat, that’s what we used to do,” Ferdinand said on the Rio Presents show. “Initially let them cheat so if we do nick it, they’re high and their full-backs are high, they’ll never get back and two of the goals especially, the full-backs aren’t even in the picture.”
Ferdinand’s comments add another layer of controversy to Liverpool’s victory, as questions arise about whether United’s defensive tactics contributed to their defeat.
