Rodri’s Season Over Due to ACL Injury
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that midfielder Rodri will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The injury occurred during last weekend’s match against Arsenal.
Rodri underwent surgery on Friday morning and will be sidelined for the rest of the campaign. Guardiola expressed his disappointment over the news but emphasized his support for the player.
This is a significant setback for City, who are aiming for a fifth consecutive Premier League title. The team will now have to cope without one of their key midfielders for the rest of the season.
City’s next match is against Newcastle United on Saturday.
Guardiola said: “He had surgery this morning, ACL and some meniscus. This season is over.
“Unfortunately, we got the worst (news), but it is what it is at this level.
“Sometimes, unfortunately it happens. We are just there to support him.”
“What he [Rodri] gives us we don’t have a similar player, but the other players all together can replace what Rodri has given us since he arrived. We have to do it as a team and find a way to play during a lot of months without an important player”.
