Guardiola Demands Man City Play Through Pain
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has issued a rallying cry to his injury-ravaged squad, demanding they play through the pain to maintain their title challenge.
With a host of key players sidelined, including Kevin De Bruyne, Guardiola has been forced to rely on a depleted squad.Despite the challenges, the City boss has refused to make excuses.
“The players coming back, some of them who were out, today trained good. Maybe they can help for a few minutes tomorrow. We have to gamble, take a risk with the players,” Guardiola said.
He further emphasized the need for resilience and mental fortitude, citing the example of tennis great Rafael Nadal: “They are used to playing with some pain. It can be niggles or it can be danger but apart from that, when it happens… today almost all of the players play with pain.
There are moments when injuries are injuries and be careful but sometimes if you have problems you have to play.”
Guardiola also dismissed the idea of making emergency signings in the January transfer window, stating that the current squad is strong enough when fully fit. He remains confident that City can overcome their injury crisis and continue their pursuit of domestic and European honors.
