Erik ten Hag’s team suffered another disappointing away defeat as their offense struggled to make an impact at the City Ground.
Despite their promising performance on Boxing Day against Aston Villa, Manchester United faced a 2-1 loss against Nottingham Forest, highlighting their inconsistency.
Without Rasmus Hojlund due to illness, United lacked attacking impetus in the first half. Although Forest also struggled to create chances, they managed to take the lead in the second half through Nico Dominguez. United’s only significant attempt came from Diogo Dalot, hitting the post from long range. They were eventually given a lifeline when a poor clearance by Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner allowed Marcus Rashford to equalize.
However, United were caught on the counter-attack, resulting in a winning goal for Forest by Morgan Gibbs-White.
This defeat marks Manchester United’s ninth loss in the first 20 games of the Premier League season under manager Erik ten Hag.
