Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, may face the prospect of losing Ian Maatsen from his squad in the upcoming January transfer window.
As reported by The Telegraph, Borussia Dortmund is reportedly feeling confident about securing Maatsen’s services this month, either through a permanent transfer or a loan deal.
Last summer, the Dutch defender was close to leaving Chelsea but turned down a £31.5 million move to Burnley on transfer deadline day.
Since then, Maatsen has struggled to secure a regular spot in Pochettino’s lineup, often featuring as a substitute in the Premier League this season.
Dortmund has shown interest in signing Maatsen this January and is currently in discussions with Chelsea regarding a potential agreement for the player.
The German Bundesliga club is optimistic about completing the deal, although it remains undecided whether Maatsen will join Dortmund on loan or in a permanent transfer.
