Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s red card in Everton’s FA Cup match against Crystal Palace was overturned on Tuesday.
Initially sent off for a tackle on Palace’s Nathaniel Clyne, the decision was rescinded following Everton’s successful appeal against the wrongful dismissal. The red card, if upheld, would have been Calvert-Lewin’s first in his career.
Everton’s manager, Sean Dyche, expressed frustration with the role of VAR in the decision-making process, questioning its effectiveness.
As a result of the successful appeal, Calvert-Lewin is now available to play in Everton’s upcoming Premier League match against Aston Villa. Crystal Palace will visit Goodison Park for the third-round replay on January 17.
