Kelechi Iheanacho is set to join the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after overcoming a muscular issue that delayed his arrival at the team’s camp in Abu Dhabi.
Head coach Jose Peseiro confirmed that Iheanacho has completed treatment for the injury at his club, Leicester City.
Meanwhile, his teammate Wilfred Ndidi has been ruled out of the competition due to injury, and Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface will also miss the AFCON due to a groin injury.
The tournament is scheduled to commence this weekend, kicking off with the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire, facing Guinea-Bissau.
