Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has criticized Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk following the team’s 2-1 Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win over Fulham.
Cundy suggested that Van Dijk’s performance in the match, where he struggled in the first half, raised doubts about his abilities.
Van Dijk faced challenges heading the ball to safety, allowed a goal, and received a booking as Liverpool trailed 1-0 at home.
Cundy stated on talkSPORT that he believes Van Dijk’s consistency does not match up to former Premier League defenders Sol Campbell, John Terry, and Rio Ferdinand, indicating that he finds Van Dijk overrated and not at the same level as the aforementioned players.
