Burnley recently secured the loan signing of Chelsea’s Ivorian forward David Datro Fofana until the end of the season in a bid to improve their attacking options as they battle Premier League relegation.
Fofana, 21, was previously on loan at Bundesliga side Union Berlin, where he scored two goals in 17 appearances. Despite not making a significant impact at Chelsea, he previously impressed at Norwegian club Molde, scoring 24 goals in 65 games.
Burnley’s manager, Vincent Kompany, expressed reservations about relying solely on Fofana’s track record, acknowledging the need to strengthen the team’s attacking unit.
While he highlighted Fofana’s speed, ability to link up play, and talent, he tempered expectations by emphasizing that finding a player who can consistently outperform current squad members isn’t easy.
Fofana himself expressed enthusiasm about joining Burnley, citing the club’s history and his eagerness to contribute to the team’s progress.
