Roma has parted ways with manager Jose Mourinho following a string of disappointing results, including just one victory in their last six Serie A matches and their elimination from the Coppa Italia by city rivals Lazio.
Despite initially being appointed in May 2021, the 60-year-old’s contract, which was originally set to run until the end of the 2023/24 season, has been terminated early due to the team’s underwhelming performances this season.
In a statement, the club expressed gratitude towards Mourinho for his dedication and contributions during his tenure at AS Roma. However, they emphasized the necessity for an immediate change for the club’s best interests, wishing Mourinho and his coaching staff the best in their future endeavors.
Roma’s struggles this season reflect their current ninth place position in the Serie A table, with a 3-1 loss to Milan marking Mourinho’s final game in charge. Notably, Mourinho led Roma to their first European title in 2022 by securing the Europa Conference League, and also guided the team to the Europa League final the following season.
