Djokovic toughed it out to reach Australian Open third round

In the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic faced a tough challenge from Alexei Popyrin but managed to secure a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 victory.

Despite not being at his best, Djokovic’s determination was evident as he saved four set points in the third set. He acknowledged his struggles and expressed hope to improve as the tournament progresses.

Aryna Sabalenka also had a comfortable win, defeating Brenda Fruhvirtova 6-3, 6-2. Other top players like Coco Gauff, Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev, and Barbora Krejcikova advanced smoothly.

However, defending champions Ons Jabeur and Caroline Wozniacki fell to young Russian players Mirra Andreeva and Maria Timofeeva, who showcased impressive performances. Andreeva’s victory over Jabeur was particularly noteworthy, and she looks forward to facing France’s Diane Parry in the next round. Timofeeva, after defeating Wozniacki, expressed her delight and is set to meet 10th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia next.
