Algeria drew 1-1 unexpectedly against Angola in their first match, while Burkina Faso began with a 1-0 victory over Mauritania. A win in this match would secure Burkina Faso a place in the tournament’s round of 16.

During the first half, there were few chances to score. Near the end of the first half, Ahmed Mohamed Konate scored for Burkina Faso, and after a VAR review, the goal was confirmed. In the early stages of the second half, Baghdad Bounedjah scored to equalize for Algeria. Later in the second half, Burkina Faso was awarded a penalty, converted by Bertrand Traore. However, Bounedjah completed a brace in injury time, securing a point for Algeria.

As a result, Burkina Faso’s national team secured four points, placing them in a favorable position. On the other hand, Algeria, with two points, faces the risk of not progressing to the playoffs.

Later today, at 18:00, the other Group D participants, Mauritania and Angola, will compete.
