Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egypt national team, has left the squad’s camp at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to an injury sustained during their match against Ghana.
He has returned to the UK for further medical treatment with his club, Liverpool.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Salah will remain in the UK for treatment, but indicated that he may return to the AFCON if he recovers in time for the final, should Egypt progress.
Klopp mentioned that if Salah is fit before the final, he will likely rejoin the Egypt squad. Egypt’s next match in the tournament is against Cape Verde in their final Group B fixture.
