Ghana has dismissed coach Chris Hughton following the team’s disappointing performance and early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The decision came after Ghana failed to secure a win in any of their three group-stage matches, finishing third in Group B with only two points.
Despite still having a chance to qualify for the last 16, Cameroon’s victory over The Gambia sealed Ghana’s elimination from the tournament.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) released a statement on Tuesday announcing Hughton’s immediate removal and the dissolution of the Black Stars’ technical team.
The GFA also indicated that they will outline the future direction for the national team in the coming days.
During Hughton’s tenure, the Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde, drew with Egypt, and experienced a disheartening turn of events in their crucial match against Mozambique, where they conceded a two-goal lead in the final minutes of added time.
