Man United fans dismayed by permanent sale of young talent Hansen-Aaroen

After over a decade within the Manchester United academy, 20-year-old midfielder Zidane Iqbal will seek playing time elsewhere, joining Dutch club FC Utrecht.

Despite manager Erik ten Hag’s focus on youth development, Iqbal struggled to secure consistent first-team appearances.

While players like Alejandro Garnacho flourished under Ten Hag, a reported incident during training left the manager “frustrated,” contributing to Iqbal’s move.

Iqbal holds historical significance as the first British South Asian to play for Manchester United, debuting in 2021’s Champions League draw against Young Boys.

However, his opportunities remained limited, with last season’s sole appearance coming in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Though the transfer fee is believed to be nominal, this move offers Iqbal a chance to showcase his talent in the Eredivisie.
