Super Eagles Top AFCON Ranks After Rivals Fall, Can They Fly to Victory?

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have defied expectations and climbed to the top of the AFCON rankings, despite entering the tournament ranked outside the top four.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have soared 6 positions in the latest FIFA rankings, landing them in 34th place globally and solidifying their position as the 3rd best team in Africa, behind only Morocco and Senegal.

Originally positioned sixth on the continent, the Eagles saw their main rivals like Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt all get eliminated.

This unexpected turn of events has propelled Nigeria to the highest-ranked spot remaining in the competition.

While Ivory Coast (8th) and Mali (9th) from the top 10 African teams are still vying for the title, Nigeria’s rise makes them a clear favorite to claim the AFCON crown.
