Facing harsh criticism from Mourinho, Carlton Cole perseveres and reaches the national team:
Former Chelsea player Carlton Cole recently revealed a harsh encounter with manager Jose Mourinho, who publicly criticized him despite not playing in the previous match.
Cole, now 40, described the experience on the “Football Lives” podcast, detailing a team meeting where Mourinho unexpectedly singled him out.
He emphasized his good behavior and lack of involvement in the recent loss, yet faced a barrage of insults about his perceived shortcomings and a suggestion of working at a supermarket chain (“Tesco”) if he didn’t improve.
Despite the bewildering and unfair treatment, Cole maintained his composure.
He acknowledged the unusual focus on him and the surprise expressed by fellow players witnessing the incident.
While Cole ultimately missed out on a Premier League medal due to technicalities despite contributing to the winning season, his story doesn’t end there.
He moved to West Ham United that summer and went on to achieve the prestigious honor of representing England on seven occasions, proving his doubters wrong.
