The Nigerian Super Falcons booked their ticket to the final round of the 2024 Olympic qualifiers after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cameroon at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Monday.
This 1-0 win secures a 1-0 aggregate victory for Coach Randy Waldrum’s team.
Nigeria dominated the first half, taking the lead early through Esther Okoronkwo in the 14th minute.
Okoronkwo, starting in place of Asisat Oshoala, capitalized on a goalmouth scramble to find the net.
The Super Falcons continued to pressure Cameroon, with midfielder Jennifer Echegini and forward Okoronkwo both coming close to extending the lead.
However, the second half remained scoreless, with Cameroon’s Enganemben Annie receiving a red card for unsporting conduct late in the game.
Nigeria now awaits the winner of the other semi-final clash between South Africa and Tanzania, with South Africa holding a commanding 3-0 advantage.
