Liverpool emerged victorious in the Carabao Cup final, defeating Chelsea 1-0 thanks to a headed goal by captain Virgil van Dijk in extra time.
However, the plaudits weren’t solely reserved for the match-winner. Van Dijk heaped praise on goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, calling him “world-class” after his exceptional performance throughout the match.
Kelleher made several crucial saves, ensuring the game remained scoreless until Van Dijk’s decisive header.
“I’ve always said he’s world-class,” Van Dijk declared in a post-match interview, highlighting his long-standing belief in Kelleher’s abilities.
“He’s a good boy, a good goalkeeper, and that’s what we need at Liverpool.”
