Victor Osimhen is rediscovering his goalscoring form under Napoli’s interim manager, Francesco Calzona.
The Nigerian striker bagged a hat-trick in Napoli’s dominant 6-1 victory over Sassuolo on Wednesday, further showcasing his return to top form.
Osimhen’s performance went beyond his own goals, as he also assisted Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s hat-trick.
This brings his total to five goals in just three matches since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Victor is returning to his level,” Calzona stated after the game. “He wasn’t in the best shape after the tournament, and it takes time to rediscover form after a long absence.
Today, Kvara also showed his potential after a similar dip.”
Calzona praised the team’s overall attitude, stating, “I sensed a positive energy from the first training session.
The players were eager to work and stay together, which gave me hope.”
Osimhen played for 76 minutes before being substituted by Giovanni Simeone. He now boasts 13 goals and 4 assists in 21 appearances across all competitions for Napoli this season.
