Despite reports last week suggesting the International Football Association Board approved trials for a blue card, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has definitively rejected the idea.
The blue card, proposed as the first new card since the introduction of yellows and reds in 1970, sparked controversy.
Infantino, speaking to Sky UK, dismissed the concept entirely: “Blue cards? That’s a non-starter for us. Red card to the blue card. No chance.”
