Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez sings the praises of his former teammate Andres Iniesta, declaring him the most gifted footballer in Spanish history.
Xavi’s comments came ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao, following Iniesta’s milestone 1000th career game.
The 39-year-iniesta, widely considered one of football’s greatest midfielders, played alongside Xavi for over a decade at Barcelona, forming a legendary midfield partnership.
Iniesta recently reached the 1000 game mark despite his move last summer to Emirates Club in the UAE Pro League, although their recent match ended in a 2-0 defeat.
“He’s the most talented player I’ve ever seen in Spanish football,” Xavi said (according to Barca Universal).
“We’re also friends, and I want to congratulate him on this incredible achievement of 1,000 games. He’s truly one of the best footballers ever.”
