According to Sky in Germany, Bayern Munich are in discussions with Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, Xabi Alonso, as a potential successor to Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.
While Liverpool are also interested in Alonso as a replacement for Jurgen Klopp, reports suggest Bayern have received positive signals from the Spaniard during their initial talks.
Acquiring the 42-year-old’s services would cost the Bundesliga champions between £12.8m and £21.3m (€15m-€25m) in compensation.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Bayern have been informed Alonso would prefer them over Liverpool if he decides to leave Leverkusen.
Plettenberg suggests Alonso is apprehensive about the challenge of following Klopp’s successful tenure at Liverpool.
