Manchester City’s Akanji Fires Back at Alexander-Arnold’s Trophy Talk
Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji has responded to recent comments by Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who suggested Liverpool’s trophies hold more weight with fans than City’s treble-winning season last year.
Akanji, a key member of City’s historic treble-winning squad, took issue with Alexander-Arnold’s remarks.
Speaking through Yahoo Sports, he questioned the Liverpool defender’s perspective: “I don’t know why he said it.
He didn’t even play [in the treble-winning season]. He can’t tell because he didn’t win it.”
Akanji went on to imply that experiencing such victories is a prerequisite for commenting on their significance.
“If you win three titles in one year, or five which we did, then he can speak again,” he concluded.
