Despite being the favorite to replace Stephen Kenny as manager of the Republic of Ireland national team, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly decided against pursuing the opportunity.
The Irish Football Association let go of Kenny in November 2023 after missing out on Euro 2024 qualification. Since then, their search for a new manager has seen several names surface.
Though Solskjaer became the frontrunner recently, reports indicate he had discussions with the FAI back in January. However, he ultimately concluded the role wasn’t a good fit at this time.
John O’Shea, Solskjaer’s former Manchester United teammate, currently holds the interim manager position for the Irish team.
