Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta singled out goalkeeper David Raya for praise after his side’s crucial 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Raya, the Spanish international, kept a clean sheet against the Wolves attack, according to Arteta, proving “crucial” to securing the three points.
Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard found the net for the North London club, but it was Raya’s heroics that impressed the manager. “We had some open situations that could have changed the game,” Arteta admitted at his post-match press conference. “But David was outstanding, making the save we needed at the right moment. That allowed us to take advantage and secure the win.”
Arteta continued, commending Raya’s consistency throughout the season. “The numbers speak for themselves,” he said. “He’s been very consistent, and the timing of the first goal was crucial as well. I’m really happy with his performance.”
This clean sheet brings Raya’s total for Arsenal this season to 13, further solidifying his importance to the Gunners’ title push.
