Negotiations are reportedly nearing completion to bring Feyenoord manager Arne Slot to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s successor.
The 45-year-old Dutchman is set for a significant pay rise, with Liverpool offering a €8 million annual salary before bonuses. This would be double his current earnings at Feyenoord.
While substantial, Slot’s proposed salary falls short of Klopp’s current package, which sits around €17 million annually with bonuses. Klopp’s achievements at Liverpool justify his high remuneration, and few would argue against it.
A sticking point remains between Liverpool and Feyenoord regarding compensation for breaking Slot’s contract. Liverpool’s €9 million offer falls short of Feyenoord’s €15 million asking price. However, reports suggest an agreement is likely.
