Pep Guardiola singled out his defensive unit after Manchester City secured a hard-fought 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest. While goals from Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland secured the victory, it was the defensive trio of Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, and Gvardiol himself who earned the manager’s praise.
Guardiola highlighted their “excellent defending in the box” as a crucial factor in the win. He also commended Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan (referred to as “Kova” here) for controlling the midfield in the latter stages, allowing City to regain dominance.
Despite acknowledging the challenges of the game, Guardiola emphasized the importance of securing the win and keeping pace with league leaders Arsenal, who City have a game in hand on.
