Man Utd in Talks with La Liga Side Over Greenwood’s Future

La Liga Side Eyes Another Year of Greenwood (or) Man Utd Weigh Greenwood Loan Extension

Mason Greenwood’s future remains uncertain as Manchester United consider extending his loan to a La Liga club.

The 22-year-old striker, who joined Getafe on loan last summer, has impressed with 10 goals and 6 assists in 32 appearances. Getafe are keen to keep him for another season, according to The Athletic, but negotiations are ongoing.

While United would prefer a permanent transfer, a loan remains a possibility. Greenwood’s contract expires in 2025 with a one-year extension option. United might activate the extension to avoid losing him for free next year if another loan is the chosen path.

Greenwood’s last appearance for United was in January 2022. Legal issues and the club’s subsequent internal investigation make his future at Old Trafford unclear.

New owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe acknowledged the need for a decision but emphasized a fact-based approach considering fan sentiment and the club’s values.
