In a bid to reshape their squad under financial constraints, Barcelona are reportedly looking at Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez as a potential successor to their aging striker Robert Lewandowski.
La Liga’s reduced salary cap of £174 million has forced Barcelona to consider offloading high earners like Lewandowski, despite his continued goal-scoring form (24 goals, 9 assists in 45 games this season).
The Polish striker’s hefty wages of £27 million per year make him a prime candidate for departure, even at 36.
According to reports, Barcelona’s interest in Nunez stems from their previous attempt to sign him four years ago when he played for Almeria.
Now at Liverpool, Nunez remains an attractive option due to his lower wage demands (£7 million) compared to other potential targets.
However, Liverpool, having just acquired Nunez from Benfica for a record-breaking £85 million two years ago, might be hesitant to let him go.
