Former Super Eagles Winger Sone Aluko Announces Retirement
Sone Aluko, a 35-year-old winger who featured for the Nigerian national team, has announced his retirement from football, according to DAILY POST. The announcement came during Ipswich Town’s end-of-season dinner.
“There’s no better place to end my journey,” Aluko said, despite limited playing time with the club. “The Club’s incredible, and it’s been an honor to be here. This year, though not filled with games, has still been the best of my career.”
Aluko’s career spanned clubs like Rangers, Aberdeen, Hull City, Fulham, and Reading. He also had a loan spell in China. Notably, he initially represented England at youth level before switching allegiance to Nigeria, where he scored twice in seven appearances for the Super Eagles.
