Petit Backs Jackson Over New Striker Signing for Chelsea
Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has urged the club to show faith in young forward Nicolas Jackson, instead of pursuing a move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
Chelsea have been linked with a striker signing as they look to bolster their attack. Jackson, in his first season at the club, has faced criticism for missed scoring opportunities. However, Petit believes patience is key.
“Chelsea don’t need Osimhen or [Alexander Isak, another striker linked to Chelsea],” Petit told Grosvenor Sport. “We’ve seen glimpses of Jackson’s potential in recent months. There’s no need to add pressure by signing someone like Isak.”
Petit emphasizes the importance of competition but argues against stifling Jackson’s development. “Let him flourish,” he said. “If I were Chelsea, I wouldn’t buy Isak. Jackson is already showing signs of promise.”
