Man City Chairman Comments on Arsenal’s Title Race

Manchester City chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, shed light on a turning point in last season’s title race.

Despite a surprising 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in October, Al Mubarak believes this loss motivated Pep Guardiola’s squad. He highlights the team’s response, finishing the season two points ahead of the Gunners who held City to a draw later in the season.

Speaking to City’s media team, Al Mubarak explained, “The Arsenal match away… We didn’t perform at our usual level, but I felt we were unlucky to lose.  That’s when I knew how this team would react and ultimately win the league.”

This perspective offers an interesting insight into Al Mubarak’s interpretation of the season’s events, suggesting the Arsenal defeat may have served as a catalyst for City’s championship run.
