Sarri Reflects on Chelsea Departure: ‘A Big Mistake’

Former Chelsea Manager Sarri Reflects on Short Tenure

Maurizio Sarri, who managed Chelsea for one season in 2018/19, has acknowledged that his decision to leave the club may not have been the best career move.

In an interview with Sky Italia, Sarri referred to his departure as a “fundamental mistake.”  During his time at Chelsea, he secured a Europa League victory against Arsenal and reached the Carabao Cup final.

However, Sarri opted to leave Stamford Bridge and return to Italy to manage Juventus. He now expresses regret over his choice.

“Leaving Chelsea was a big mistake,” he said. “There was a good foundation to build upon, and I made a significant error in judgment at that time. We won the Europa League, and the project had great potential, but unfortunately, I felt compelled to return to Italy.”
